Las Fuerzas Armadas y la economía ilícita: una visión crítica a partir del estudio de los modelos económicos keynesiano y neoliberal

In light of the results seen in some countries in the hemisphere, the use of the Armed Forces in complementary roles in government systems to combat illegal activities presents a new analysis variable that can have an impact on the decisions made in budget investments and allocations in the Defense and Security sectors. This article analyzes the arguments that from a Keynesian and Neoliberal perspective justifies whether or not there is a need to invest in defense and security. Special emphasis is placed on the multiplier effect variable and the significance of including the state of interdependence between the formal and illicit economies within the methodology used to measure it. Revealing the impact of the actions of the Armed Forces on the economy, can lead to making better decisions in terms of resource allocations that can in turn contribute to the economic development of the nations.
