The Declaration of Security of America, provides a new panorama to hemispheric security, achieving as an important aspect the consensus of multidimensional security concept that includes facing new threats, challenges and concerns of the states in the hemisphere. Regarding this, security in the region is of diverse nature and multidimensional matter, which is why the traditional concept and approach has been extended to include new and unconventional threats. In order to be adapted to the new approaches the Armed Forces need to assume new roles in the traditional ones related to the defense of sovereignty and territorial integrity has been raised and in support of the police forces in control of internal order. one of these new roles where active participation of the armed forces has been demonstrated is in the management of in the face of the occurrence of natural disasters.
